What is a PSA system in Trading Cards?
A PSA (Professional Sports Authenticator) system in the trading card world is a mechanism used to evaluate and certify the quality of a card. PSA is a company recognized for authenticating and grading the condition of collectible cards, assigning them a score on a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 is a card in poor condition and 10 represents a card in perfect condition (Gem Mint). This rating is important for collectors, as it determines the value of the card on the market, whether in terms of rarity, preservation or authenticity.
In digital systems or in games based on collectible cards such as Quasar Trading Cards, implementing a system similar to the PSA is useful to give value to the cards, generate competitiveness between players and maintain a market where high-quality cards are more desired.
How does your PSA system work at Quasar Trading Cards?
You've created a card quality rating system in your game, where:
Quality Rating: The card is given a quality rating that reflects its value or condition. This rating can be on a scale of 0-10, which could be inspired by systems like PSA used for physical cards.
One-Time Rating System Use: Players can use a special

one time to attach the quality rating to a specific card. Once the rating is applied, the card is permanently rated and cannot be re-rated or changed.Permanent Rating: Once a card is rated, the quality rating is permanently recorded. This simulates the way physical cards are rated by PSA, where the rating is final and a label is placed on the card indicating its quality rating.
Benefits of your PSA System in Quasar Trading Cards
Permanent Rating: By making the rating unique and permanent, you create a sense of unique value for the cards. Players will have to carefully decide when and with which cards to use the rating item, knowing that that rating will be final.
Card Market: By having a rating system, you can set up a card market where players can buy, sell, or trade cards with different quality ratings. Cards with higher ratings will be more coveted, creating a more robust internal economy within the game.
Risk and Reward: With the rating item being a one-time use, players will have to strategically decide which cards to evaluate. This adds an important layer of decision-making, similar to sending physical letters to PSA in the real world, where cost and final evaluation can directly impact the value of a letter.
